Kay: Impeachment Investigations Should Start In Veto Session

State Representative Candidate Dwight Kay is calling upon the Illinois House to launch the pre-investigative hearings for the impeachment of Governor Blagojevich and to finally introduce an impeachment resolution to start the formal process. Kay, who has been the leading proponent of impeachment hearings, says that Hoffman€™s close relationship as the Governor€™s legislative leader makes him incapable of representing local voters in the impeachment process.

Even before lawmakers passed a bill designed to put the brakes on pay-to-play politics in Illinois, Gov. Rod Blagojevich declared that it wasn't strong enough and hinted that he'd use his amendatory veto power to "improve" it rather than sign it into law. They passed it anyway. More than a month later, the governor hasn't gotten around to improving it. That's because he's too busy bopping around the state, at taxpayer expense, raking in the bucks at fundraising events that would be illegal under the bill he won't sign.
